Land use-change for food production, notably soy and cattle, has been one of the main drivers of deforestation in the Amazon in the past decades. This event, hosted by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) & the Science Panel for the Amazon (SPA), will present an overview of the state of food production in the Amazon, assessing the impact of climate change on Amazonian health, livelihoods, and food security. Speakers will present an in-depth discussion on local responses to these challenges, and opportunities that exist for more sustainable production systems.
