Peter Oesterling

Program Officer

Peter Oesterling joined the Andes Amazon Fund as a Program Officer in June of 2021 and has over six years of experience working in non-profit, government, and research capacities. He specializes in the nexus of climate change, conservation, environmental policy, sustainable development, and Indigenous rights, with interests in mountain and forest landscapes. Prior to joining AAF, Peter worked as the Senior Latin America Program Associate for the Rights and Resources Initiative.

He is a former Fulbright Public Policy Fellow with the Peruvian Ministry of Environment’s National Institute for Research on Glaciers and Mountain Ecosystems, where he helped advance the initial development of Peru’s National Policy for Glaciers and Mountain Ecosystems. He is a published author on socio-environmental issues in the Andes and holds an M.A. in International Development from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver and a B.A. in Spanish and Political Science from the University of Kentucky.
