Amazonía 2041: A vision from the future is a 9-minute illustrated film that takes viewers on a journey set in 2041, looking back at how an indigenous-led movement succeeded in permanently protecting the Amazon Sacred Headwaters region. The video, narrated by two young indigenous women, incorporates both systemic and bottom up solution pathways for ecological transitions that emerged from the territory. This short-film portrays the proposal for the future for the Amazon and the world.
This proposal was developed by the Amazon Sacred Headwaters Initiative (ASHI), which is an alliance of 30 indigenous nations and civil society organizations to permanently protect 86 million acres of the Amazon basin and demonstrate the tremendous possibilities and benefits that are upon us by taking an ecocentric development path.
