Kicking off 2021 by Protecting Critical Water Resources and Threatened Species

Andes Amazon Fund is delighted to announce three new conservation areas created through our support in 2021. Created on January 19, the Cuenca Municipal Conservation Areas in Ecuador are comprised of Machángara, Mazán, and Curiquingue-Gallocantana Municipal Conservation Areas and together total an area of 48,277 acres in the municipality of Cuenca.

Cuenca Municipal Conservation Area was made possible through AAF grantee Nature and Culture International, who collaborated with the Municipality of Cuenca and various organizations to achieve the conservation of fragile ecosystems and guarantee safe water resources for 500,000 inhabitants.
